About NB-EDT

We know that the lack of specialized eating disorder services in the province directly impacts people suffering with an eating disorder, their families, and the health care system. We also know that it creates added pressure for health and mental health practitioners. We have heard from many practitioners looking to learn more about eating disorders and their associated treatment to support the people they work with around the province. Building on our combined 60+ years of eating disorder experience in direct practice, consultation and supervision, advocacy, research, and education, we developed the NB-EDT to increase the knowledge base of professionals who may work with people with eating disorders.

You will receive a Continuing Education Certificate with 15 CE credits.

How It Works

NB-EDT is housed within a research study, which means the training includes:

  • 5 self-paced virtual training modules, with ongoing reflections AND

  • Each module is preceded and followed by a few questions about your comfort with the topic of each module.

    • For example: “What is your assessment of your present level of knowledge of eating disorder assessment protocols for anorexia nervosa?”

The research is essential for us to know whether:

  • Our training helps participants feel more comfortable with helping their clients/patients with eating disorders

  • Whether we should change something

Dr. Josée L. Jarry

I am a registered psychologist in Ontario, currently working on becoming registered in New Brunswick. I also am a full professor at the University of Windsor where I teach Clinical Psychology and train students in psychotherapy. I did my PhD at the University of Toronto. My doctoral dissertation showed that women who chronically diet believe that thinness is essential to success in many areas of life. I then did a post-doctoral degree at the Toronto General Hospital, Eating Disorder Centre Day Hospital where I mostly lead body image therapy groups. At the University of Windsor, I head the Studies in Yoga, Meditation, and the Psychology of Appearance (SYMPA). My students and I conduct research on body image and the psychological benefits of yoga and meditative practices. During my years in Windsor, I was the consulting psychologist at the Association for Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa (BANA) for 20 years. At BANA, I designed and supervised the assessment process and advised on treatment planning. Presently, I am an Editorial board member for three major Psychology Journals.

Dr. Jenni Cammaert

I am a registered social worker in New Brunswick. I am an associate professor of social work at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, where I teach direct practice skills, trauma informed approaches to practice, and strategies for interdisciplinary group work. I completed my PhD at the University of Windsor, where my doctoral dissertation focussed on social, cultural, and economic barriers to accessing services for women who are at risk for eating disorders. I have two decades of social work practice experience in direct practice, leadership, clinical supervision, and education. My research builds on my clinical practice experience at an outpatient eating disorder clinic, where I provided assessment, treatment, group therapy, supervision, and advocacy. I am passionate about advancing social work education and practice, reducing barriers to accessing health and mental health services.
